Cubs vs Giants Official Elite MLB Pick 6/27

Cubs vs Giants Official Elite MLB Pick 6/27

With the wind blowing out and both teams looking to make a statement, this game has all the ingredients for a thrilling, high-scoring affair. Of the 800+ people who tail my picks, I am going to receive a lot of emails calling me stupid for backing the over, again. I had the over 7.5 last night and of course the Cubs ruined it. I even wrote an article about it which can be found here. Anyways, I am going right back to the game total with my Cubs vs Giants Official Elite MLB Pick 6/27.

Offensive Woes and Winds of Change

The Chicago Cubs have been in an offensive slump lately, managing just four runs in their last two games. This offensive drought is one of may reasons why the Under has hit on both Tuesday and Wednesday’s games. But in reality it’s just the Cubs shooting themselves in the foot. Mainly because of calls from their horrific manager.

The series opener on Monday, however, saw the Over come through. And today I’m banking on a similar outcome this afternoon.

The Giants have held the upper hand in this series, winning all three meetings so far. They’ve been consistent in their offensive output, averaging 4.7 runs per game. While the Cubs have struggled to keep pace, averaging just 2.7 runs per game. If Chicago hopes to turn things around, they’ll need to find their bats and do so quickly.

The Pitching Matchup: Imanaga vs. Hicks

Chicago Cubs: LHP Shota Imanaga

Shota Imanaga, once a beacon of reliability, has hit a rough patch. Through May 18, he sported an impressive 0.84 ERA. Making him one of the most formidable pitchers in the league. But since then, things have taken a nosedive. In his last five starts, Imanaga has allowed 21 earned runs, with the most recent disaster coming against the New York Mets. In that game, he was shelled for 11 hits and three homers in just three innings, leading to an 11-1 rout. The Cubs will need Imanaga to regain his early-season form to have a fighting chance today.

San Francisco Giants: RHP Jordan Hicks

On the mound for the Giants, Jordan Hicks hasn’t had it easy either. His June has been rough, evidenced by a 5.19 ERA over 17 1/3 innings in four starts. His last outing was a struggle against St. Louis, where he allowed five runs on six hits with three walks in just four innings. Hicks will need to tighten up his control and keep the ball in the park. Especially with the wind conditions favoring hitters today.

Weather Factors and Betting Insights

Speaking of the wind, today’s conditions are expected to feature gusts blowing out towards left-center field at 8-11 mph. For hitters, this is like Christmas in June. Balls that might normally be routine flyouts could turn into home runs, like last night. Making the Over a tantalizing bet for today’s game. The potential for a handful of dingers is high, and both teams have players capable of taking advantage of this.

Offensive Breakout Potential

The Cubs’ offense, while dormant lately, has the talent to erupt at any moment. Cody Bellinger, Dansby Swanson, and Nico Hoerner are all capable of turning the tide with a single swing. If they can harness today’s favorable hitting conditions, the Cubs could easily exceed their recent scoring woes.

On the Giants’ side, Mike Yastrzemski and Wilmer Flores have been steady contributors, and they’ll look to continue their solid play. Yastrzemski, in particular, has been a key figure in the Giants’ offense, and his ability to drive the ball out of the park will be crucial.

Final Prediction: High-Scoring Thriller

Given the recent struggles of both starting pitchers and the wind blowing out, today’s game is shaping up to be a high-scoring contest. The Cubs will be desperate to snap their losing streak against the Giants. And the Giants will aim to continue their dominance. Expect a lot of runs, a few home runs, and plenty of excitement. And as for the bullpen, both teams are fatigued.
