February was a very profitable month here at Elite Sports Beat going 14-6 (70%) +$5,415 overall. And so far in the month of March 2-0 +$2,000 overall! Let’s take a look at my Tampa Bay Lightning vs Florida Panthers Elite NHL Pick 3/3
Lightning Strike with Eight-Game Streak
The Tampa Bay Lightning, the NHL’s hottest team, are set to visit their in-state rivals, the Florida Panthers, on Monday night in Sunrise, Florida. With both teams riding winning streaks, this high-stakes showdown could have major implications in the Atlantic Division playoff race.
Tampa Bay enters this matchup boasting the longest active win streak in the NHL, having won eight straight games, including three consecutive road victories. The key to their dominant run? Defense. Over the past four games, the Lightning have allowed just three total goals, showcasing their ability to lock down opponents.
A major factor in Tampa’s success is goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, who currently ranks second in the NHL with 29 wins. The Lightning’s defensive structure does an excellent job protecting him, limiting high-danger scoring chances and keeping opponents frustrated.
While the Lightning’s defense has been stellar, their offensive firepower remains a major threat. Nikita Kucherov continues to be one of the league’s most dynamic playmakers, ranking second in the NHL with 60 assists and leading Tampa Bay with 87 points.
Tampa’s scoring depth is also a nightmare for opponents, with four players eclipsing the 25-goal mark this season:
- Brayden Point (31 goals)
- Brandon Hagel (30 goals)
- Nikita Kucherov (27 goals)
- Jake Guentzel (27 goals)
Hagel, in particular, has been red-hot, riding an eight-game point streak with eight goals and six assists during that span.
Panthers Aim to Extend Their Own Streak
Not to be outdone, the Panthers are also on a three-game winning streak, despite being without one of their top stars. Much of their success this season has come from their big four point producers:
- Sam Reinhart (64 points, 31 goals)
- Matthew Tkachuk (57 points) (currently on injured reserve with a groin injury)
- Aleksander Barkov (54 points)
- Carter Verhaeghe (44 points)
Surprisingly, Florida has continued winning despite limited production from this core group. Over the past four games, they’ve combined for just one goal and four assists.
Like the Lightning, defense has been the key to Florida’s recent success. The Panthers are 12-5-0 over their past 17 games, thanks in large part to the stellar play of goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky is fresh off a shutout victory over Calgary on Saturday, marking his seventh win in his past nine starts. With 25 wins this season, he remains a steady force in net.
Florida Acquires Seth Jones in Trade with Chicago
In a significant roster move, the Panthers traded backup goalie Spencer Knight to the Blackhawks, acquiring five-time All-Star defenseman Seth Jones in return. Jones, currently in the third season of his eight-year, $76 million contract, is expected to make his Panthers debut Monday night.
This addition strengthens an already formidable Florida blue line featuring Aaron Ekblad and Gustav Forsling. The trade also involved a conditional first-round pick (2026) going to Chicago, with the Panthers receiving a fourth-rounder in return.
With Knight gone, Florida recalled Chris Driedger from AHL Charlotte to serve as Bobrovsky’s backup.
Rivalry Renewed: A Season Series Tie-Breaker
These Sunshine State rivals split back-to-back games in December, with each team winning on the road:
- Dec. 3: Lightning 4, Panthers 2 (in Sunrise)
- Dec. 4: Panthers 5, Lightning 3 (in Tampa)
With both teams surging and critical points on the line, Monday’s game promises to be a battle of elite defenses, star power, and playoff implications.
