Elite NBA Pick Tonight — January 6th, 2025

Cleveland is simply the more stable team in this matchup, and the current form makes that gap even clearer. The Cavaliers have been the more reliable group on both ends, while Indiana has been stuck in a skid and struggling to string together consistent offense and stops for four quarters.

The biggest factor tonight is the injury context. Indiana is missing key creators and scoring options, and that matters because when your offense is already shaky, you can’t afford to be short-handed against a team that can defend and control the game in stretches. On the Cleveland side, they’re not perfectly clean either, but they’re built to win “normal” minutes — the possessions that don’t show up in highlight reels but decide whether a favorite covers.

From a numbers standpoint, the reason I’m comfortable laying -6.5 is simple: Cleveland has been the more reliable team on both ends. Indiana has allowed too many points, and without their usual offensive engine, they’re far more likely to hit the dead zones that lead to 8–0 runs and quick separation. That’s how favorites cover without needing a perfect shooting night.

One Rule: Don’t Chase the Number

Totals can get weird with blowout risk, late-game pace changes, and scoring volatility tied to lineups.
