Capitals vs Seantors Elite NHL Pick 4/27
The Montreal Canadiens are fired up after a wild Game 3 win — and they’ll need that energy again Sunday night as they look to even their first-round series against the Washington Capitals.
Montreal scored three straight third-period goals to pull away 6-3 on Friday, sending the Bell Centre into chaos. Cole Caufield and Alex Newhook each dropped a goal and an assist, while Christian Dvorak’s lucky deflection gave the Habs the lead for good early in the third.
Nick Suzuki called it “emotional” and said the team had to “reset” between periods after a physical first 40 minutes. Mission accomplished.
Alexander Ovechkin tied it 3-3 early in the third, but Washington couldn’t keep Montreal off the board after that. Connor McMichael and Jakob Chychrun also scored for the Caps, who still lead the series 2-1.
Goalie Trouble on Both Sides
Both teams have major question marks in net heading into Game 4.
Montreal starter Sam Montembeault left in the second period Friday after an injury and didn’t return. Rookie Jakub Dobes stepped in for his playoff debut, stopping 7 of 8 shots and locking down the win. No word yet if Montembeault will dress Sunday — coach Martin St. Louis says he’s still being evaluated.
Washington’s Logan Thompson exited late in Game 3 after colliding with teammate Dylan Strome. He needed help off the ice and couldn’t put weight on his left leg. No update yet from Caps coach Spencer Carbery. If Thompson’s out, backup Charlie Lindgren — a former Hab — would get the start.
Quick Hits: Injuries and Returns
The Caps got a little good news Saturday: sniper Aliaksei Protas (30 goals in the regular season) practiced fully and could return for Game 4. He’s been out since April 4 with a skate cut.
