Saturday gave us a full slate of baseball and college football, and our selections delivered a strong 4-1 overall record.

The five 5-star plays included two MLB selections and three college football totals. Four cashed, including a pair of Unders and an Over that cleared the number comfortably.

MLB: Braves vs. Phillies — Over 8.5 (-120) 5★ — LOSS

Final: Phillies 4, Braves 2

Our lone loss of the day came in Philadelphia, where the Braves and Phillies combined for only six runs.

The matchup had opportunities to develop into the higher-scoring game we were looking for, but Philadelphia starter Zack Wheeler prevented it. Wheeler limited Atlanta to just one run and three hits over six innings while striking out nine.

Atlanta actually loaded the bases with nobody out in the first inning and came away empty, an early missed opportunity that proved especially costly for the Over. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley eventually supplied Atlanta’s only runs with solo homers.

Philadelphia did its part early, scoring three times in the first inning and eventually getting a home run from Kyle Schwarber, but once the Phillies reached four runs, the game essentially stopped producing offense.

The 4-2 final left the Over 8.5 three runs short.

Result: LOSS

MLB: Blue Jays Moneyline (-104) 5★ — WIN

Final: Blue Jays 4, Royals 3

This one was much more satisfying.

Toronto jumped in front early, Kansas City fought back, and the game was tied 3-3 entering the later innings. That put our nearly even-money Blue Jays moneyline squarely in the balance.

Kazuma Okamoto proved to be the difference.

Okamoto finished with four hits and two RBIs, including the go-ahead single in the seventh inning that put Toronto ahead 4-3. The Blue Jays finished with 13 hits compared with seven for Kansas City.

From there, the Toronto bullpen protected the advantage, with Louis Varland closing the ninth for his 33rd save.

It wasn’t a runaway victory, but that is precisely why price matters. We weren’t laying a huge favorite number. At -104, Toronto simply needed to win the game.

They did.

College Football

Boston College vs. Cincinnati — Under 50.5 (-110) 5★ — WIN

Final: Cincinnati 34, Boston College 15

This one finished close to the number, but the Under got there.

Cincinnati won 34-15, producing 49 combined points — 1.5 points below our Under 50.5.

The game was exactly the kind of contest where offensive inefficiency helped the total.

Boston College actually accumulated 388 total yards, more than Cincinnati’s 339, but the Eagles repeatedly failed to turn those yards into points. BC committed two turnovers, struggled with penalties and had several promising possessions stall before reaching the end zone.

A particularly important sequence came before halftime. Boston College appeared to have scored a touchdown, but the play was ruled incomplete and upheld on review. The Eagles then missed a 35-yard field goal and went into halftime trailing only 10-0.

That scoreless first half from Boston College created valuable breathing room for the Under.

Cincinnati eventually stretched the lead in the second half, and BC added a late touchdown, but there wasn’t quite enough time or offensive efficiency to push the game through our number.

49 points against a total of 50.5.

Result: WIN

Clemson vs. LSU — Over 50.5 (-109) 5★ — WIN

Final: LSU 51, Clemson 10

There wasn’t much sweating this one.

After a lengthy weather delay pushed back kickoff, LSU absolutely exploded offensively and nearly covered our entire total by itself.

The Tigers dominated Clemson 51-10, producing 61 combined points and putting the Over 50.5 comfortably in the win column.

LSU led 31-3 at halftime, meaning the game was already on pace to sail past the total despite Clemson contributing almost nothing offensively during the first two quarters.

Quarterback Sam Leavitt was at the center of the LSU explosion, producing 230 passing yards, 113 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. LSU also generated points defensively with an interception returned for a touchdown.

Clemson eventually added a late touchdown, but by that point the Over was never seriously in jeopardy.

LSU scored all 50.5 points required to reach the betting total by itself and then added another point for good measure.

The final margin was also historic: the 41-point defeat was reported as the worst loss of Dabo Swinney’s 19-season tenure at Clemson.

61 total points.

Baylor vs. Auburn — Under 59.5 (-110) 5★ — WIN

Final: Auburn 17, Baylor 16

This was the strongest totals result of the day.

We had Under 59.5, and Baylor and Auburn combined for only 33 points.

The Under finished a massive 26.5 points beneath the betting total.

Despite the teams combining for 825 total yards, drives repeatedly failed to become touchdowns. Baylor ran an extraordinary 99 offensive plays and generated 436 yards, while Auburn accumulated 389 yards. But turnovers, third-down struggles and red-zone inefficiency kept the scoreboard under control.

The game was tied 10-10 entering the fourth quarter.

Auburn finally grabbed a 17-10 advantage with 3:21 remaining, but Baylor wasn’t finished. The Bears drove 75 yards and scored with nine seconds remaining to make it 17-16.

Rather than kick the extra point and potentially force overtime — one of the few developments that could have added unnecessary points to the total — Baylor attempted a two-point conversion for the win.

The Bears came up just short. Replay upheld the ruling, Auburn escaped 17-16, and our Under was never remotely threatened.

33 total points against a line of 59.5.

Four winners from five selections, with three of the four winning totals finishing on the correct side of the number and the Blue Jays delivering the moneyline victory at nearly even money.
